How to go to Boracay if you’re from Abroad?

Is this your first time to become a tourist in Boracay?  First, you have to know that Boracay is located in the Northern region of Aklan Province and it is part of a group of islands in Visayas. There are many ways on how to get to the island but we will discuss the easiest way which is through an airplane.

From Abroad to Boracay

If you’re from the US, UK or Australia, you can arrive at the Manila International Airport (MIA). From there, you can book for a flight to Caticlan, which nearest airport in Boracay. If there are no early flights to Caticlan, you can also arrive via Kalibos Airport, also located in Aklan. Kalibos Airport is farther from Boracay than Caticlan but if you sum up the time, waiting for a Caticlan flight might delay your most awaited tropical adventure.  Flights to Boracay from Manila usually take about 50 minutes max for small aircrafts and a speedy 15 minutes if you take the 4 prop planes. Airlines that are ready to take you to the island include the Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Zest Air, and SEAIR. Take the light aircrafts if you’re on a budget. Trust me you can do more things with that money once you’re in Boracay.

From Caticlan to Boracay

Once you’re off the plane you will have no trouble finding where to go or what to ride as there are many passengers like you from manila going to Boracay Island. You’re next task is to ride a tricycle to the nearest port.  From there ride a boat or bagka which is no less than Php 25 per person. For additional 5 pesos only, you can get to ride a bigger craft and has air-conditioned cabin. But that will take forever because bigger crafts are limited and you have to wait for them to return from Boracay, not really ideal if you have time at hand. I suggest riding the boat, there’s a lot of them waiting at the port so you’ll be boarded and out to sea in no time.

Tip: Lose the shoes and wear something suitable when riding the boat.

From Kalibo to Boracay

If you’re from Kalibos Airport, take the air-conditioned bus heading to Caticlan.  Go to the port and ride the Bangka as usual.

Where to stay in Boracay?

Before you go to Boracay you must plan ahead what station or part of the island you want to explore, where to stay and activities to do. The place is usually booked by businessmen, who wants to stay connected online even on their precious vacations. Room rates starts at $300.  Too much for a weekend getaway but enough for those who need a luxurious stay in Boracay.

Fridays Boracay

Another upscale hotel in Boracay is the Fridays Boracay.  Like the Discovery Shores, they also have internet access in every room.  They offer almost any kind of services you might need for a wonderful vacation.  Their motive is to provide complete vacation experience all in one place.  The resort can assist guests in activities such as jet skiing, para-sailing and wind surfing.  After these tiring activities, visit their freshwater pool, pool tables and massage area.  You can ask for a massage room service if you like.  But I suggest going out since the place is located in front of the beach, a perfect place to bring your partner and relax for the night.

Room rates ranges from Php 10,000 to Php 18,000 depending on the time of the year.

Dave Straw Hat’s Inn

Although the place is not located in the beach front, Dave Straw Hat’s is a two-minute walk from the beach.  They claim to offer 5-star services but the rooms are quite basic.  Some rooms have air-conditioning, a refrigerator and Cable TV. Other rooms are just plain and do not have that amenities.

Good thing the place decided to put hot and cold water on every room, which is a plus factor. One more thing, the staffs of this hotel are very friendly and they accommodate each guest attentively.  Room rates ranges from Php 1200 to Php 3500, again depending on the season of your visit.

Orchids Resort

If you’re on a tight budget, look no further because our next entry is a low budget resort. Staying here is cheap but they have very interesting rooms for you to experience. Orchid rooms are inspired by ethnic roots, which are made bamboo and nipa.  The traditional houses in the Philippines are made of nipa, so if you stay in Orchids, you get to experience sleeping in a nipa hut. The place is simple, clean and the staffs are very accommodating. Despite its simple surroundings, they now offer Wi-Fi for their guests.

Orchids Resort is a two-minute walk from White Beach and the room rates starts from $29 – $98 per person basis depending on the season.

Boracay Hills Hotel
